Bushmills Casks
Purple Creative
I had the privilege of being asked to journey across Europe, photographing the landscapes, vineyards and people behind the casks that have long played a part in shaping Bushmills whisky.
There was also the privilege of time. Time to travel through these regions, explore the vineyards and surrounding landscapes, and wait for the light to be just right. Rather than simply arriving at a location and taking the picture, we could spend time looking for the right places, the right perspective and the best possible light. It gave the shoot a chance to breathe, and allowed the landscapes themselves to become an important part of the story.
From historic Port, Marsala and Madeira vineyards to the producers and makers who continue these traditions, the journey offered a rare opportunity to see where the story of the cask begins. The rugged beauty and character of each landscape shaped the photography, bringing a sense of place and scale to the story we were telling.
These casks are the quiet heroes behind the deep, layered flavours of Bushmills 16 and 21-year-old single malts. To visit their origins, meet the producers and spend time photographing the landscapes that shape their story was a real privilege.
