Travel, beer and photography. A dream come true.

Over four to five months, I travelled across Europe and beyond, photographing the bars and tapsters that really stood out for the quality of the Pilsner Urquell they kept and poured.

What made the project special was the chance to spend time with the people behind each place. To sit, look around, ask questions and understand what made a particular bar different. These were not simply places selling beer. They were people who cared about what they did, and the photographs were about finding that character and bringing it into the frame.

Working closely with the client, we developed a consistent visual approach across very different locations, while allowing each place and the people behind it to retain its own character.

The result was a huge collection of photographs, eventually brought together in a 200+ page brand book. From the original brewery in Pilsen to bars and tapsters around the world, it was a chance to tell one story through many different places and people.

At its heart, it was about something quite simple: being curious, taking the time to look, and finding the human story behind what people do.
