Finn Juhl's House

These photos are from Finn Juhl’s house in Ordrup, near Copenhagen. Although Finn passed away in 1989, his influence on the design world remains profound. A Danish architect, interior, and industrial designer, Finn Juhl was best known for his forward-thinking designs. He played a pivotal role in the development of Danish design in the 1940s and was instrumental in introducing Danish modern to America. One of the highlights of his career was designing the entire interior of the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations in New York City.

Finn Juhl and Inge-Marie Skaarup built their home in Ordrup with an "inside-out" philosophy, carefully planning the interior of each room before determining the exterior. In this space, Finn Juhl was able to seamlessly blend furniture design, arts, and crafts into a modern, functional interior, entirely on his own terms.

I love documenting the stories of people deeply immersed in their crafts and the passion they bring to their work explore the "footprints left behind" by these creative forces.
