The Bel & Dragon
Fuller Smith & Turner
A few months ago I was commissioned to spend two days on the road with my camera and a list of locations: Wendover, Churt, Cookham, Kingsclere. Four stops, three lenses, two cameras. The brief was simple - show what summer feels like at The Bel & Dragon.
The inns sit tucked into the countryside like they’ve always belonged there. Weathered stone, low beams, and over four hundred years of stories in their bones - and you can feel it.
But this was about summer, and the gardens. Capturing how and why people gather and stick around in the sun. Why wouldn’t you? The drinks are crisp and cold, the food - from soil to kitchen to plate - takes on a different dimension by the amazing food team. They know their craft. The chef works the outdoor pizza oven on a hot day. Fire roaring. Dough spinning. Smoke in the air and a rhythm that pulls you in. The service, the smiles, and the feeling that you are looked after and appreciated.
