Over four to five months, I travelled across Europe and beyond, photographing the bars and tapsters that really stood out for the quality of the Pilsner Urquell they kept and poured.
It was a huge project, with time spent travelling, exploring and getting to know each place before making the photographs. Working closely with the client, we developed a consistent visual approach across very different locations, creating a body of work that felt authentic to the people, places and traditions behind the world’s first pilsner.
The result was a huge collection of photographs, eventually brought together in a 200+ page brand book. From the original brewery in Pilsen to bars and tapsters around the world, it was a chance to tell one story through many different places and people.
